About Us

The Namibian Association of Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) Support Organisations (NACSO) consists of 11 NGOs and the University of Namibia, which work closely with the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.

NACSO aims to deliver high-quality services to rural communities to help them sustainably manage and utilise natural resources.
The idea behind establishing NACSO was to leverage the diverse skills available across Government, NGOs, and the University of Namibia to create a coordinated, nationwide CBNRM support network. No single institution possesses all the necessary skills, resources, and capacity to offer community organisations the comprehensive, multidisciplinary assistance needed for the various CBNRM initiatives in Namibia. These skills encompass governance and institutional advice, natural resource management, and support for financial and business planning. here.

The purpose of NACSO is to provide quality services to rural communities seeking to manage and utilise their natural resources sustainably.

The philosophy behind the formation of NACSO was to harness the wide range of skills available in Government, NGOs, and the University of Namibia into a complementary nationwide CBNRM support service. The rationale is that it is unlikely that any single institution has all the skills, resources, and capacity to provide community organisations with the multidisciplinary assistance required to develop the broad range of CBNRM initiatives taking place in Namibia. These skills include advice on governance and institutional issues, on natural resources management and assistance with financial and business planning.
